Thanks chaps.

The Fighting Torque is gonna be a mere sprint in comparison!!

So a 177 in an Ultima at Brunters, will be about a 155 over 3/4?

I would think 160mph as the Ultima's are very quick to 100-150mph then
their barn door aerodynamics begin to hold them up.

Tell me summink I don't know!! He-he!! biggrin

I've removed the caravan....whoops...I mean spoiler for the FT this sunday. If all is stable I'll try it without next weekend and try to give the Ultima crowd an accurate back to back.

I would expect from a standing start you will be in the 120's in the first qtr mile, you then have half mile to go...

Unless you are running out of acceleration at 140 ish, then there is no reason why you cannot get to the point of BHP/wind resistance (Accelorating termilanl velocity) quite quickly in 3/4 of a mile...

I dont see people getting anywhere near top speed in 3/4 mile to be honest.

Agreed and 1.6 miles is not long enough either so over to you Craig for
RAF Marnham I think it's called, which supposedly has the longest runway
and see if you can organise a VMax there.hehe

No they wont, but the viper did hit 216 in one mile at TV2005, so I wonder what the top speed of that would be then? 230 maybe???

People will be in about 80-90% top speed at 3/4 miles, as the distance it take to cover the over extra 3/4 if it were 1.5 miles would be shorted and you are in the the said Accerating Terminal Velocity.

In skydiving I can hit 130mhp is 10 seconds flat flying. If I do headdown, I can hit 200mph is 10 seconds, because I have less resistace, but I have travelled further. from 200 - 260mph can take me another 20 seconds, as I am reaching my Accerating Terminal Velocity. Same theory with a car, except BHP is pushing the car, and gravity is pushing me in Skydiving.

Difference here is if I eat more pies I go faster in the Air, but slower in the car. so, eat less pies for more speed in a car, or the prefered Rat Burger smile

TV 2005 was over 1.43 miles for the final runs from my data-logging.

I can tell you from my data-logger that my 1/4 mile speed at woodbridge was 127mph. At Brunters, where we do not do standing starts thus do not have full 0-0.75mile runs, over a further 0.5 miles starting at 127mph under full acceleration it ended up at 175mph. By this it is clear my 3/4 mile speed should be about 175mph. By comparison my best over the full 1.5 miles is 202mph and the true aerodynamically limited top speed is 215-220mph.

Most cars will not be even close to their top speed unless they are Caterhams etc with very high power/weight and very poor aerodynamics.

PS Neither Leon or my Rufs are at either event, so perhaps Mercedes might win something finally smilesmile

Hi Guy, as for being quickest on the day or all opposition not turning up,I
refer you to VMax Extreme. Or maybe you mean the PhatGixer chappy biggrin
Just recently the SL has spent more time at MBenze than with me irked and is still there, so I am unlikely for F Torque on Sunday and may not even be ready for VMax.furious
Look forward to a future meeting when all our cars are in the best of health
and we have a 30mph following wind.hehe

I was second to that Viper & it was over 1.5 miles according to my Data log on that day in fact 1.6 miles. Joels Viper hit 203.9 in a mile when winning totb 6. I can give some facts on distance/speed for my own car. .5 mile 185 : 1mile 200+ : 1.5mile 210+. If you ask the computer it has a theoretical mine has a Topspeed of 234mph with 930bhp & would require a tad over 3miles to reach it. Its dreamland im afraid as it would require a further 25secs or so on the throttle, my Tuner would have a heart attack if it was attempted.

What do you reckon on my speed Craig?

I'm guessing 140/145 ish, i rev limit well before the VMax beams smile

At the last vmax my data logger showed the full drag was 1.5 miles (and that was from fairly deep in the corner on the left hand side) and the CGT managed 169mph after 0.75 miles so took a further 0.75 to make the last 24mph -don't you just love drag.....

Edit.. The 169mph was from a ~40mph second gear start (trying to log some 100-300 times) - it is obviously possible to exit the corner faster, Guy was at 70ish coming out of the corner.

Just to compare to your data logs. When we did the final runs from the gravel bit at the beginning, I think this gave the extra distance, but it was a ropey start from there.

I was counting the distance on the M'Way yesterday, and I'm hoping that the runway will be long enough to get me over 150mph for mine wink
