Help with new car
Discussion
A friend is considering importing to the UK (possibly via a Vauxhall dealership) a 2003 Holden Monaro 5.7 V8.
Does anyone have experience of this car, or give advice on it?
I hope you guys can give some feedback as I'm always singing the Pistonhead crew.
Thanks in advance
Rich

That doesn't narrow it down much....they are all fitted with the 5.7 V8 in various states of tune - except the base model which is a 6-cyl and not worth importing.
Get him to mail me if he wants to talk about it soem more. It would also be worth talking to Mark at Linden about the local options.

from a "down-under" point of view, i'd get the HSV GTO or GTS Coupe if you can. Obviously these are a lot more expensive, but a hell of a lot better. Plus they've got the all-important HSV badge on them.
They probably look best in yellow or black, and are a hell of a lot sexier/meaner then the standard CV6 and CV8 Monaro's

GM are considering bringing the Monaro into this country, but it won't be soon. Despite press releases to the contrary, it appears nothing is actually planned. They don't want to burn their fingers again the way they did with the American cars.
In the meanwhile, anyone wishing to import a Holden or HSV would do well to speak to the SVA authorities as it will probably end in tears (or back in Australia).
For more information see today's post on the Evo Holden discussion page.
