Can someone explain how this works, for example if the Instrument pod was made by the factoy which is no longer, how would multipart get one of those ?? When i had my alternator replaced I was told that we couldn't get a standard one because the TVR one was slightly modified at the factory, so the same questions applies etc etc

TIA

TVR website has been updated also, nice to see something have been going on in the background

Yep, so did I, in fact to quote the official TVR web site, and only 3 articles down from todays announcment:

Under the new contract, TVR Power will be the sole distributor of official TVR components to the authorised dealer network in the UK and Ireland, and will supply parts for the existing model range and all models produced in the past ten years. TVR Power carries an extensive range of spares supplied direct by the original equipment manufacturers.

Guess it's another person that NS has sc**wed over - alledgedly! scratchchin

Yes, allegedly, it would appear so.

I think we are all about to be scr**ed over yet again.

Who will Mult*part be selling the parts to. Main Stealer's only? Where will the specialists / indis buy their parts from?

Would this situation be of interest to trading standards? All hypothetical you understand.

I guess they must have a few new manufacturers lined up ready to start producing TVR parts, its probable that TVR gave multipart the plans/design drawings for them to give to their preferred manufacturers.

Really can't see this happening, who in their right mind is going to put stock on the shelves that may never sell? The joy, if you can call it that, of the idicyncracies of TVR as was, was that they built on demand, I know that when I needed a new wiper control box there was a wait as they made one for me, you just will not get that service from MultiPart it simply doesn't fit their model.

Stocking head gasgets is one thing as they already exist, but instrument clusters for T350's may be a bit thin on the ground!

Just keep your fingers crossed that no model specific parts break, because I fear you will be on your own!

What worries me is the guys like TVR carparts and Clever Trevor. Is this going to affect them if the parts are going to be supplied from Griffith Chimp smile level up by them?

As said before I hope we support the guys who have helped us with parts when it has been so hard to source them.

I heard a couple of months ago that at least one of the people who used to build the pods at the factory were setting up their own independent business...not heard anything more since then.

Well - as an owner .. I'm always happy to have a choice.

Competetion is always good in a market and keeps the prices keen and if a product is better (say the super clutch) then it can comand a higher price ..

Does everyone here always bitch about good news frown

I don't think this is a surprise to many people to be honest.

TVR took back a lot of parts from TVR power in the early part of this year.

When the factory was cleared, a lot of the parts where put into storage in warehouses near/in Chorley, just outside Preston, if you look where the main Multipart location is, that now makes sense.

Loads of the common shared parts from Ford and Vauxhall etc will be available as before to everyone, but in a positive vein I assume that this means that some of the bespoke/harder to get parts will now become available again and will supplied to everyone.

They may be more expensive but then I have to say some of the independents have been charging very inflated prices for parts that have become rare or just plain difficult to find, so no one's innocent here, I mean £200 for a wiper motor? eek

It will be in everyone's interests for these parts to be as widely available as possible I would imagine?

The downside of course is some of the bespoke replacement parts that have been built by some enterprising people may be stopped as the design belongs to TVR but then that's business.

Personally, on the whole, I think this is positive news that proves there is some life in the old dog yet, which has to be good.
