What's a Mk.1 facelift?

I know there were a few mechanical changes (1.8 brought in, 1.6 detuned, different seatbelt mounting points) but never noticed any obvious outside differences...

I think mines a facelift , not sure , could be 1995 onwards when side impact beams and other odds and sods were added , still think the mk1 is the bestest looking out if the lot

Although I have a mk2.5, I have to admit that the mk1 is the best looking of all the generations. There is something about the clean simplicity of the lines and pop-up headlights that just looks so good.

Edited to say that my ultimate mx-5 would combine the looks and handling of the of the mk1 with the saftey features of the mk3 and the engine from the MPS range (2.3DI turbo 250ish bhp)....
