We're off out to a resteraunt tonight and having just checked their menu online they have some slightly unusual offerings. Kangaroo, Crocodile, Ostrich and Bison ! Anyone sampled these and care to give an opinion ?

If it helps I tend to go for lamb or beef and am not keen on pork.

Crocodile is actually pretty good.

The GF's Dad had it on his pub menu for a while.

They all taste like chicken.

But seriosuly, IIRC Kangaroo steaks are pretty good.

I'm a fan of kangaroo, can be a bit stronger in flavour than beef but is usualy very tender and very lean.

Ostrich and Bison are quite 'beefy' but much lower in fat. Haven't tried the others.

Ostrich is also very lean, and again quite beef like.

Hmmm...think it's time I visited a specialist butcher again.

yes I would agree, Kangaroo steaks are great - if you can get that mental picture of Skippy out of your head.

Ostrich is good also but a bit more gamey than chicken... ie, it has a stronger taste. I haven't tried the others.

Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison are all worth a chomp. Crocodile is a bit pants really and really does taste like chicken.

Annoying that my favourite dish, seared fillet of Chinese Freshwater Dolphin, was off the menu at my local eatery last week. Problem with the supplier, apparently.

Panda sounds nice, does it have a background flavour of bamboo?

Does it make you croc if you eat it past it's sell by date(?), in which case I would recommend that you stop burying your head in the sand and bison kangaroo instead getmecoat

Ostrich and Kangaroo seem to be winning the PH vote at the minute, the other half fancie Ostrich so maybe I'll go with Kangaroo so we can taste each others lick

It's not your coat you need, you should be banned for that.
