Dinitrol Chassis Chemicals
Discussion
I wonder if anyone has used Dinitrol rust remover and protection system. I have looked around the forums but no-one has mentioned these products in any detail or with a particular favour. I am not a lover of Hammerite, just need to look at my back gate to convince me that I would like to try something new.
The main reason I ask is that I live near the supplier in Peterborough.
Anyone know of a kind soul that would let me borrow their ramp or pit in the Lincs / Cambs / Notts / Leics areas?? It would save me a several weekends work!! Could be a few (s) in it
Thanks
George

Sorry, I responded to your original post in the chassis corrosion thread by mistake.

I have a pit in my 18ft x 12ft garage in Rugby. Let me know if thats close enough, and when you are likely to need it.
Haven't used Dinitrol, but would swear by the POR products, available from Frosts. The POR-15 paint is incredible, VERY tough. Never rated Hammerite, its way too hard (ie brittle) with poor chip resistance in my experience. POR-15 will resist hammer attacks! I have no connection with POR or Frosts BTW, just impressed with the product.
Thanks Both,
Can either of you advise me the best way to clean and paint the chassis. I was going to start with scraping the the chassis and suspension, degreasing, then spraying with Dinitrol RC800 (which is a rust convertor)(supplier close to me), put POR-15 on and the underbody protect.
But I have the following concerns:
1. What is the best way to jack the rear of the car up, and where would I put the axle stands stands for safety sake?
2. Do I really need to take off the exhaust to get everything?
3. Which is the best degreaser to use?
The central section of the chassis looks fine and has original powder coating (not bad for 1995 car). The outriggers, the body fixing plates, and supports from the chassis to the outriggers are the worst but know real issues until I get the wire brush or drill with wire brush out. Have hit it with a hammer and nothing happened but had a nice metallic noise.
Thanks for the offer Phil, its not too far but was hoping to start this weekend (weather permitting). On another note, have you changed your brakes? was thinking about changing from the std 400 brakes to 500's. Would be interested to know what Ford model they are off.
Have to do on drive as garage to small (full of crap really). Was going to start with the rust removal, degrease and Dinitrol rust killer and then finish off next weekend.
Regards

Totally agree with Mr Meldrew.I had my chassie sand blasted, then used the POR products.Very impressed.
If you have any of the original paint left on the chassie, POR 15 do a "tie coat primer" to stop any paint lift.
If you use POR 15, just don't get any on your skin...it dosn't like coming off!
I'm still sorting out the brakes on my chimp, but i'll sort out some part numbers for you. I'm sill not to sure if you can "plug" company names on here, perhaps one of the moderators could let me know?
If your not i'll send you an email
Cheers
