Is it worth getting this for trip to Le Mans next week, as the AA want to charge me £51 for the Saver Option or £74 for the 5* package.

Is it worth getting, as chances are anything that goes wrong can be fixed with a few tools and the bible, and if it's anything beyond me there are likely to be enough smart bods around who'll help me out for a few s.

Or is it one of those cases that you'll never break down if you have it, but if you don't...

I just got confirmation from German AA that you can join their ADAC plus for @£50pa with a registered address in UK. This gives coverage for breakdown / recovery / hotels... throughout Europe. May be a bit slower than AA / RAC if you use in England, but faster in Europe.

Tripps, Are you not a member of the AA then? I took out mine yesterday and it cost £36.90. Just got a quote online for a non-member and it said £41.00 for two people for 5 days. Are you going longer?

I see, just did another quote with the car being over 11 years old and it came out at £78.00

Yeah, it's the >11 year surcharges that do it.

The option is to use the free cover for three days only, to which it's just a £25 surcharge I think.

Just called the RAC, as I'm a member under my old man's policy, and as I'm a member of the car club I got a full 5 days of cover for just £30.78.

If the car dies 7 days before leaving fro the trip they even provide a hire car for that!

The guy I spoke to was very friendly, and said he'd dealt with a spate of TVR for Le Mans the last few days.

One thing to note it that they'd normally charge £63.63 for the policy because the car is more than 11 years old, however because I'm going with the TVRCC it gets discounted for some reason, presumably as they assume there will be enough helpful people around and that the car is more likely to be well cared for.

Sorted

Raceboy,

Are you a member, as I presume that affected the discount somewhat... It's also for 5 days (12th to 16th).

Details are though:

Number: 0800 55 00 55

My reference is 57413920 if you want to get the details up.

Good luck with the

The ADAC stuff (www.adac.de) sounds good if your European cover for the year would cost more than £50. I've just been having a browse on their site and the £50 cover if the "plus" membership and they do a lower one that only costs about £26.
