Drive Scoobies For Charity

Improve your driving skills and help Brain Tumour Trust at the same time

Prodrive, Subaru and the Driver Devlopment Programme are supporting the 10th anniversary of the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust by organizing a driver day on Saturday 13 October. Titled www.driving4charity.co.uk, the event is being hosted at Prodrive's Kenilworth facility in Warwickshire.

This could be you...now cough up, its a good cause
This could be you...now cough up, its a good cause

Although the primary focus is to raise money for the Trust, all participants will get the chance to drive a range of Subaru vehicles tackling high speed asphalt and off-road circuits. You’ll also receive tutelage from professional driving instructors. When you’re exhausted from driving, you can always bid for some automotive memorabilia in the charity auction.

Donations of £200 and above are invited from each member of the public wishing to participate in the day, but that will also cover your lunch. This may sound a little steep, but you’ll be helping a very worthy cause and having loads of fun at the same time.

Maybe i'm missing something, but not owning an Impreza doesn't exclude you, does it? If there are any spaces left I think I might fancy that.

Do I have to speak direct to Prodrive to sign up??
Any spaces left?

I'm gonna be dead cheeky like and get all my family and mates to sponsor me. It's for a good cause, see!

Gingerbread, I think it's using their Impreza's, from what I've heard of the day.
They are faster after all aren't they, other people's cars biggrin

I recently went on a Prodrive Driving day and payed the usual price of £250 for it. I also travelled all the way up from Dover for it. I left there a much smoother driver and now understand car limits and skid control far far better. (Oh, and mightily impressed by Subaru Foresters..!!)

All I can say it's well worth it and you will enjoy yourselves.

I'm even thinking of partaking in this just to have another go.....

I'm quite tempted too. *ponders*

I think LOOOKE may have trouble reaching the pedals though.

Hi,

I'm the organiser of the Driving4Charity event on Saturday 13th October and I thought I'd just clear up a few of the uncertainties I've gathered from your "threads".

First of all, a big "thank you" to Pistonheads and Autocar for supporting the event with this advertising. It's clearly going to help us get to the right audience.

1. You don't need your own car for the event (apart from getting to the Prodrive facility, of course). All vehicles are provided by the I.M.Group who own Subaru. We will have Impreza STi's, WRX's Legacy Spec B's and more.

2. You will need to own and produce a current full UK driving licence that enables you to drive on UK roads now i.e. isn't sporting too many SPXX's

3. The normal cost of a similar event is between £250 and £300 depending on the organiser. I have chosen to ask for £200 because I want to make it accessible to more people (track day kind of money) and I want to generate a significant sum for the charities research programme. It goes without saying that if you are able to give more then I would encourage you to do so. I have personal experience of what brain tumours do to individuals and their families and want the disease to become history.

4. No, you don't need to contact Prodrive directly. Please go to the www.driving4charity.co.uk website and follow the link to the JustGiving site to make your donation and register. Please read the instructions on the JustGiving site.

5. Yes, there are plenty of spaces left at the moment as we have only just started advertising in the last few days. Just get over to the driving4charity website and sign-up.

Thanks for your support.

Paul
