Cant wait to see all the usual faces on Sunday, but just a little heads up regarding the far end of the runway.
As most of you are aware Bruntingthorpe is the home of Avro Vulcan XH558 which has been under restoration to flight for the best part of seven years. Well this week saw a great event take place, she was taken to the far end of the runway (Just past where the speed traps are and deep into the braking zone!!) and started up now the engines are brand new and have corrosion inhibitor oil in them and it gets burned off during these engine runs but a lot of smoke and oil residue is produced, now shes out again today for high power engine runs so there might be a slightly slippery surface to contend with on Sunday especially if its wet!! so until the surface conditions have been verified I think it would be wise just take it easy..
One crumb of comfort to take on board about this, remember the person who nearly got Vmax banned earlier this year is now going to have to contend with at least 2 weeks of possibly the noisiest object in britain howling up and down the runways on test for her return to flight. Makes you laugh out loud about the reaction of this individuals discomfort and theres not a thing he can do about it!!!!!!

Regards Rob

I've been wondering this myself, and this just confirms it - its made my day realising this to be the case.

Do you think we'll be able to see the Vulcan, and maybe get some pictures?

Just to let you know that the Vulcan's initial engine tests are taking place on one of the aprons, so there will be no risk of oil or fuel spliages on the main circuit.

I'm not sure what I'm more excited about: Hooning about at silly speed, or getting to see the Vulcan!

possibly
