Hello VMAXers,

I'll be @ VMAX on Sunday to photograph the event for an upcoming web magazine, hopefully I'll be able to catch up with a few old faces too! One shot in particular that I'd like to capture is a group rolling shot of some VMAX cars.... whats that then I hear you ask? hehe

Basically the plan is I hang out the back of Craigs RS6, we'll be doing 30-35mph and you guys follow a few feet back whilst I snap away. I expect us to have 7 or so cars in the front group. Rest of the day I'll be shooting various things to try and capture what VMAX is all about, will try and (hopefully!) grab a couple of pax rides so I can shoot from in car too.

It looks like there may be a little precipitation on Sunday, so I'll be keeping an eye out for bottom bend heroics too (ie, some drifting action wink).

As always I'll try to make sure I get a decent shot of all of your cars and will make them available as prints.

cheers,
Steve

Good stuff, one shot I'd quite like to try (given time etc) is car to car of someone drifting behind the camera car - maybe we could try to make that work, otherwise I'll be shooting around bottom bend as usual.

Probably will take the Beemer as being a hatchback its a pretty decent camera car (oh and it drifts well so we may do a shot with the art director shooting me drifting behind a camera car wink)

I'd be confident to try a low speed (i.e. 30/40/50mph second gear pass) behind you - the BMW has the guts (just in the dry, no probs in the wet) to poke out the back end.

Hopefully given a couple of runs, I should have the measure of space needed - it was surprisingly easy to control on the track day I did...

Looking forward to it!

I'll try and drift for you, but remember to stop snapping when the angle gets too large. paperbag

LOL. How do you think half the magazine shots you see are done? Capture the car just before it spins, looks great wink

Lets see if I can give you a few pointers wink

The group shot is i guess best at the start of the day, as Craig runs all the cars round for one lap which includes a little blat down the main runway in some kind of mild formation, then we all gather at the bottom of said runway for quick briefing. Makes sense & so as not to hinder the number of hot runs (unless done at lunchtime), to request some kind of formation down the runway during the initial lap??
