Can't believe it, Mrs K who is a pretty swift driver just got blown off the road by a 20 year old Audi Quattro whilst she was driving her Audi S4!!

This thing was not just a little bit quicker, it was awesome.....

Much respect to whoever was driving it. If anyone on here, let us know if you have either got the biggest Garrett going, or NOS, as you were quick!!

Scouts honour. We were on the way back from the Cinema in her car & I had had a couple prior to the movie.

I am still staggered how quick this car was. It was also in perfect condition (white swb quattro).

I know several very wealthy guys who have kept theirs and tuned them up over the years...

I believe they are running around 400bhp and significantly more is possible.

Short wheelbase suggests a Sport Quattro with - IIRC - 320-odd ponies.

If it was a Sport Quattro, then I aint surprised it was as quick as you say!

It must have been significantly more than 320. The S4 V8 runs at around 340 iirc. Yes, it is heavier than the quattro, which may make it a little slower but not the difference we saw. Once the quattro came on boost, it was just plain gone.

I know this car.. It is a long wheel base quattro with 450bhp now.. In August when this topic was opened it had 250bhp but.. masses of torque hence the low down grunt..

It now does 0-100 in 9sec 1/4 mile in 11.9sec quick enough to be reliable.

Its very possible, my friends cavalier turbo (now only 70 on uk roads!) produced 268bhp but 317lb of torque at 14 psi! Thats GT3 RS/Audi R8 territory. It is incredibly fast. It now runs 20psi so should be good for 300+bhp and goodness knows how much torque. A Quattro with 250bhp but a very high torque figure would do an S4.

S4 is 30% heavier than the sport quattro. That's a massive difference - easily enough to kill the relative performance and explain the difference you saw.

So, that means the S4 would need 30% more power from it's engine to be an even match - if said Quattro has 450bhp, you would need just under 600bhp just to keep up!

Its quite a frightening experience to go in it!! slight amount of steering when the boost comes on and it starts accelerating sideways.

It done a 0-60 in the low 4s and that's with getting bogged down of the line!!

Or just lighten the S4.. its cheaper than buying HP!!

Automotive perfection. Whistling Turbo's and chattering Dump Valves where they belong, not on an old Impreza with more "ICE" than power wink

It was more than just a little extra weight making the difference. This Quattro was one of the quickest cars I have ever seen (exotica included). The way it left the us when it came on boost was just plain staggering - Mrs K was wringing the nuts off the S4 & we honestly looked like we were in some boggo Ford Ka for all the performance differential between the 2 cars.

Simply an awesome sight & I remember it now as if it were yesterday....

It did have 250bhp then and it has 450bhp now, i know cuz its mine...

It runs twin intercoolers water injection with Porsche orange injectors and 2.2bar boost amongest other things..

You name it it has it. engine is built for much more power but I'm using a turbo that wont make much more than 450bhp cuz i prefer the torque which it has by the bucket load, which is why it looks so quick.

Don't know how to post pictures!?

Yep. I'd guess something similar. Real sport quattro's are v v v rare, and unlikely to be out on a cold winters evening splashing through the salt. Dialynx cars (being used on the road) must significantly outnumber real cars, and there are some mega powerful ones out there too.

Its not a Dialynx car its a long wheel base quattro. and your right i don't drive it in the damp let alone the wet. Its as clean underneath as it is on top. plus its undrivable in the damp....

Hi AAN

Don't know how to post pictures!?
Do you have any vids of the car in action, I would love to see some if you do, I have always been a big fan of the Audi Quattro.
