Found it. Was called Thunderbolt. All the press shots have him driving a 3000GT - could have sworn it was a Lancer though. Ah well, as you were.

Oh yes, the car in the article is a dogs breakfast.

He did have a Lancer Evo 2 in the film, at the start. In the main race, some girl racers gave him a GTO.

Sometimes these so called designers get it all wrong. It seems that everyone is trying so had to do something that hasnt been done before, that the only thing left to do is the stuff people wouldnt want to do.........if you get what im saying????

Mitsubishi has a long association with Jackie Chan, who has always used their vehicles in his movies. The Jackie Chan Cup is an annual celebrity auto race involving starlets from across Asia in Mitsubishis with professional Touring Car drivers alongside for assistance, and was held before the Macau GP until 2004 when it moved to Shanghai.

As for the car, in September 2005 Ralliart, Mitsubishi's motorsport arm, produced 50 Jackie Chan Special Edition versions of the Lancer Evo IX; Chan acts as the honorary Director of Team Ralliart China.
