Back from lapping Spa & Nurburgring in the S!!!!
Discussion
Hi all,
Bit late with this I'm afraid, but last Friday (17/8) myself and 3 other cars (Elise, Boxster & Audi TT) headed off for a weekend of Le Mans GT racing at Spa, followed by a public session at the Nurburgring on Monday. I got home Tuesday after 1199 miles at an average of approx 21.9 mpg. The only problem we had on the whole trip was a dodgy brake light for the TVR and a broken boot release cable on the Elise
The TVR behaved impeccably and despite it's uprated (i.e. firm) suspension proved to be very comfortable cruising at 90 ish on the longer motorway runs - unlike the Elise that I had to get out of after an hour on the motorway cos my
had gone numb. The TVR really came into it's own on the hilly twisty bits between Spa & Da Ring
I'd paid a bit extra for the Spa tickets that enabled us to park right in the middle of the paddock for the weekend and also do 2 laps of the track behind the pace car. There were only 12 other cars on the track so there was plenty of opportunities to slow down, then catch them up again!
Da Ring but is an awesome place to visit, even though the conditions of damp, dry and wet all on the same lap meant it was a very careful session from me
The car attracted lots of favourable comments wherever it was - Spa, Ring, service stations etc, although Paul following me in his Porsche through Belgium was concerned at one point by the flames that spat out of the exhaust
I hope you like the pics: the first one is just before we left the Spa paddock to go on track, the 2nd one by me hanging out of the Elise with my co-pilot at the wheel "somewhere" between Calais and Nurburg, and the 3rd one on Da Ring itself.
Cheers, Longers

How did you find it on the track?
Excellent! Because the conditions over the 13 miles of the Ring lap went from damp to dry to wet the car I took it steady but the car handled superbly. I'm already working out how I can get back there for a couple of days to do a full lap in the dry....

By the way - what mirrors are those on your S? Not seen those before.
Do they fold in (I've a narrow garage!)?
They were on the car when I got it but I'll be changing them at some point cos I'm not that keen on them, although they give much better vision that the originals (very important at the Ring with bikes coming up behind you!)Do they fold in (I've a narrow garage!)?
Yes they do almost fold flat against the car and are easily adjusted. When I do change would you be interested in them?
Longers
Certainly interested - is the mounting big enough to cover the existing hole or do they look like the door has been modified?
I'm sure even if I'm away at the time (Nov/Dec with work), someone would buy them on this forum. By the way - not wanting to spoil your sale, but why don't you like them?!

Hi Longers, sounds like you had a blast!
Are you going to any of the local meets in the next few weeks? as I'd like to tap your knowledge! We're taking the Chim on a two week road trip in October (virgin territory for us!) and wondered if you'd got any tips on routes etc?
All advice gratefully received!
btw Longers we're the red Chim in Lyddington.
