TR6 Ignition problem
Discussion
Could anyone help with the problem i have been having with my TR6 running on when its turned off?
Have tried advancing/retarding the ignition to no avail. Have tried colder plugs. I have stripped and cleaned the distributor.
Could it be a problem with the stage two head that has been fitted?
Any ideas would be gratefully received!!
With thanks

hi, the fact wether it is injected or carb does not make any difference. the mixture is finding an ignition source when the ignition is off. could be the higher compression is generating enough heat to result in detonation, as in a diesel engine. the other cause can be carbon build up on the head or valves resulting in "hot spots" however as this is a new head i doubt. try lowering the compression ratio by fitting a thicker head gasket.
