DONINGTON KIT CAR SHOW NEXT WEEKEND !!!!!!
Discussion
It's showtime next weekend at Donington, 15-16 September. Kit car drivers get in FREE on both days although passengers have to pay. I believe that the event is being held outside the circuit around the Exhibition Centre area, unlike the last few years when it has been inside the circuit.
There is a major race meeting on at the same time but you have to pay seperately to get in. Bummer!!
Last years show was superb and included a trackday.
This years seems somehow a little less promising but I'm going anyway, of course.
Anyone else planning on attending??
I know that many of the kit car shows all seem to offer the same stuff but if we don't support these events they'll get dropped, like Stafford and Harrogate.
It will no doubt be busy so get there early.
Geoff.

I was thinking of going, but tbh even with free entry in the Quantum it doesnt look even a quarter of last years show
No track action, minimal club spaces for parking, which if you're unlucky and arrive late means the car park, and another event on at the same time
To me, it sounds like someone hasnt thought it through properly and is pitching it as a "Another reason to come is the Kit Car Show" but that could just be me
I'll be the one at home swapping the engine out

Hi guys,
There is an area at the old melbourne loop (as I understand it) where some manufacturers will be demo'ing their cars. There is definately no private track day this year as in the past due to the double booking of the venue (which was a circuit mistake rather than a show organisers mistake I believe).
The show should still be well worth a visit, quite a few manufacturers going along (we have a lot of things on display this year) and the parts/accessories usually throw up some good deals.
If nothing else there are some really nice cars to drool at and to get some ideas from for your own builds, both from the manufacturers and the privately built cars outside.
This is the last show of the year in the Midlands with only Exeter to follow in November so take advantage as there will be nothing to see until spring next year!
Hope to see you all there supporting the industry.
Neil.

I'll be making a trip with the Veranti on the Sunday. Its not going to be as great as before, but I've known years where the show has only been on the outside of the track before, and apart from missing the track-day bit, it was still just as good as the inside track as long as people still go that is?
Actually, the worst part is that you dont get to go under that tiny tunnel through to the centre of the track where you can give it some and let the sound reverberate around!

Well, Adam W you've got to do something to 'enhance' this show, haven't you?
With 12,000 people attending the SeeRed Festival last year any visitor to Donnington is going to have REAL trouble getting in. Why on earth have you put this kit car show on the same weekend as such a big historic racing meeting?
No wonder there's No track access, No infield access, this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

The venue was double-booked by Donington Park, despite the fact that the kit car show has been there for over a decade on the same weekend in September (except a couple of years ago when it was in October - the last time Donington double-booked the place). There was nothing the organisers could do to change it for this year.
And for the record, the show is organised by Limelight Exhibitions, not Complete Kit Car. We're merely sponsoring the event and helping with the club side of things...

I get the impression there's going to be 2 camps come next week. There'll be the ones who had a great time, who saw loads of stuff and a nice mixture of old and new cars, and you'll get the grumblers (like me!) who'll be annoyed at the queues to do anything, wondering why half the usual crowd didnt go and why everything was so busy
Thats my premonition, of course I hope it goes well and I'm horribly wrong. May pop down on the Saturday and have a look around, but I'm not planning this as much as I did with Stoneleigh and I prob wont be in the Quantum; it's not the most desirable of cars, but I wouldnt feel happy leaving it in the carpark

Sorry my mistake I stopped buying the two rival mags when war broke out.
However, it seems that from your last post that kit car owners are now to be herded into pens and not let out LOL

Well that was the general feeling with everyone there. Usually Donnington can be a good show. Its normally on the infield and you can take your car on track, so there's always something to see. I spoke to quite a few people randomly and they all said the same, poor turnout, and just not much going on.
totally pants
There didnt seem as many manufacturers acessory and tool stalls seem lacking too
and the lack of track access/track day made it seem smaller as me and my mate used to sit trackside and have our lunch while watching the cars blatting round
had wife kids and a shopping list and still managed to be back on the road 3 1/2 hours after arriving
Very dissapointed
