if it stays on (the one next to the handbrake light), it means low fluid, right? well the fluid's topped up and the brakes work fine (brakes evenly, straight and as well as normal)... so any ideas why it stays on?

Sounds like a switch or wiring fault to me.

Have you tried pulling the connector off the switch in the top of the filler cap? If that makes the light go out then the switch is knackered. If not, then you have to dig a bit deeper into the wiring I'm afraid. Maybe verdigree in the connector or chaffed wires where they pass through the inner wing?
