Lost the clutch at Le Mans - think its the slave cylinder (fingers crossed)

pretty gutted I couldn't make the trip home but top result with Classic Line Insurance - Euro breakdown covere under the car insurance - they arranged a taxi to Paris from Le Mans, flights back to Heathrow with a taxi waiting at Heathrow to take us home and bringing the car home this week. Good result for what could have been a disaster...

also glad to say she was running like a trooper before this and as quick as a 4.5 cerbie ;-)

Bad luck about your clutch...if it is the slave cylinder(any fluid dripping under the box and low brake/clutch reservoir level ?)it will be covered under a WH warranty(mine was).

c'mon then, lets hear the stories !!

all right then, it went something like this......

arrive Thursday evening, pay the 20 Euro supplement to camp in Garage Vert (which is actually ON the Bugatti circuit, right next to the Dunlop bridge - top spot!!). Pitch tents, drink beer, go and play on the legendary death karts. At some point, I lose my tickets as the string round my neck snaps (probably torn off by one of my pursuers on the kart track, p1ssed off because the fat bloke's fastest)

I realise this on returning to the tents at about 1am, knowing (hoping?) that one of the others is likely to have picked it up. Tell scotty I'll do anything to get it back, he takes one look at the deserted tarmac with gravel trap beyond, and says "Doughnut?"

How could I resist? fire up the Cerbie, let it warm up for a few minutes, and give it a go. Not bad for a first effort, but then up steps the big fella (my brother Miles), who fires up his T350c and proceeds to perform figure of eights to a (by now) growing audience of revellers.

Then scotty, fearing for his reputation and that of all Kiwis, steps up to the mark in the All Black Tuscan. It's all good.....and all on tape, thanks to Hayden "Rhino Wrestler" T, who's been standing in the middle of the track, getting the whole lot on tape.

Suffice to say, Thursday's antics were repeated on Friday night and Saturday night, to an ever growing crowd of appreciative petrolheads. Much frivolity and tyre smoke later, we find ourselves leaving an indelible mark on the Bugatti circuit (can't wait for the next bike race on Eurosport from there, "look, there's our doughnut marks!!").

We'll be back for another go next year (with some spare wheels and tyres!!)

cheers

andrew - you did miss a great weekend mate (dont mention the rugby) - even with the clutch going - thanks for the advice I've tried calling warranty holdings but they disconnected my call because of overloading so guess mine wasnt the only car having problems on the weekend

also of note is that you cannot doughnut a brand new 996 C4S - not through lack of trying and you can doughnut a Boxter S - although you need a 4X4 to drag it out of the gravel when you loose it (Mr French punter who had a go)

will get video up as soon as possible

Hi Guys,

I returned to York late last night and have looked at the very sorry state of affairs parked on the driveway this morning.

No bloody tread left again - courtesy of doughnut's - a near on full rear set in one trip to le mans!!

A full bag of very wet clothes - why??

1 inch depth of flies on the front of the motor.

An incredible tour - just like to thank you all for your understanding of my virginity to Le mans - and that none of you pressured me into any antics my mother wouldn't be proud of.

Miles

Just logged in - looks like you guys got a good spot on the Bugatti circuit! I can't possibly understand why your clutch went Scotty My trip back btw was considerably faster than the trip down!

Cheers,

Andy.
