OK, as I head towards ownership and having studied
the threads here long and hard, what do the current owners
consider essential items to carry around with you for the little
'niggles' that crop up, especially on long trips?

Small tool kit
Oil
Water
Spare fuses
Car Jump starter (means you don't need another car to jump start it !)

Edited to say : And mobile & RAC breakdown card (card means you won't have any problems)...

.. emergency charge pack for mobile ... 'cause you just know that your mobile battery will suddenly become intrinsically linked to the cerb's performance when all goes wrong ... !!!

On a lighter note......

Fold up chairs and a TVR umbrella for the many car shows that you will be encouraged to do by your R O.

What's a "car jump starter" olly? How does it work?

It is just a box that you charge at home that holds enough charge to jump start your battery.

Cerbera2004 - I know you are bringing forward your plans, but arent you a bit keen with all these superfluous questions? Have you got a beard?

Only when I've not shaved if I've worked through the night

Thought it might be a useful thread for myself and potential other new owners? Perhaps not...

Olly,

What car jump starter have you got?

I've looked at two different types, can't remember makes, but in both cases the crocodile clamps wouldn't open wide enough to fit over the terminals/connectors.

Neil.

Olly, I'd be interested to know if you have actually successfully jump started your Cerbera of one of these things (given that it takes a lot to turn an AJP8).

I have been having a 'mare with my battery draining (despite replacing it) and am still seeking a solution - perhaps this is it.

Neilus/gixxer1000 : Can't remember the make, but my father-in-law picked it up for me from Macro's about a month ago when they had them on special offer. I'm fairly sure it's the same one that CPC sell , and yes, it starts the Cerb fine (just fitting the terminals) ! It actually starts the car better than the car battery does on it's own !

It also doubles as a fridge power supply if you go to Le Mans, with no risk of flattening your car battery !

Here’s an answer to the same question from a few years ago…paranoid? I leave you to judge! Rich...

Tool Kit
As so many people kept asking what I take round with me, I thought I'd make a page to point people at!

Just before I bought the car I popped to Halfords and stocked up on a few things for a "just in case" scenario. The tools are really just for quick fixes and minor problems. I don't think there's any need to take more than this. Though the car's proved itself to be totally reliable, I like to be prepared!

2 tins of tyre weld, Jump leads, Socket set, Foot pump, 5 litres of oil, 5 litres of water
Disposable camera, Gaffer tape, Electrical tape, Torch, First aid kit, Fire Extinguisher, Fuses, Oil pressure relief spring, Set of 3 pliers, Cable ties, Ratchet spanner set, 24 mm spanner (for the pressure relief spring!), 8mm spanner, Adjustable spanner, Allen key set (which works on an angle), Cross head screwdriver, Flat screwdriver, Small handle cross head screwdriver, Small handle flat screwdriver, Long, thin screwdriver... that doesn't live in the boot... Rags, Map of France, High visibility vest, Tow rope, 'On Tow' sign, Warning triangle.

Cheers olly

Better get myself down to Macro then.

One final question - does it hold a charge for a while? I would imagine it will gradually lose its charge and need to be topped up every now and again.

No problem....

Well, I've had mine about 6? weeks now. I've started the Cerb 3 times with it (it's having a holiday due to lack of cash, but I don't like it not running for too long), and I've started a Golf 5 times with it, and it's still showing a full charge !!! So, no, doesn't need much boosting/charging !
