Removing audio drivers
Discussion
My PC has been crashing during any 3d application (games!)
I think i've narrowed it down to a sound issue. It's fine running games or 3d stuff that has no sound (google earth works fine, 3d stress test in half life works - the game with sound doesnt).
I bought the pc off a mate and it had a hercules gametheatre xp card in it. i uninstalled the drivers (or so i thought) and removed the card, replacing it with a 'trust pci 5.1' card. basically a crappy 5.1 card i got from maplin for about £10. installed those drivers and assumed it'd work.
however there is still a 'gametheatre' icon in the control panel. i didn't see anything about it when running dxdiag though.
any ideas what i can do? spec etc below;
Athlon 64 3000+ (standard cooling, not overclocked),
Gigabyte GA-K8N mobo
1 gig RAM,
ATI 9800 Pro
Enermax 430W psu (EG465P-VD model?)
120gb HDD
DVDRW
windows xp pro sp2 with latest updates

check in add and remove programs it could just be software for it.
Also check the tinternet for up to date drivers for your new soundcard as old drivers should associate themselves with your new card.
Also how did you uninstall them? devman?
Regards
Liam
