Has anyone uprated the engine performance of the standard Boxster (not the S) and what did they do and what extra did it give. I know that the easier option is to buy an 'S' but that is not always possible.

What was the performace gain, what was involved and who did it (UK only)?

Cheers

Difficult. The cost of the upgrade will be considerable, and the price of an S therefore similar in the long run. But please don't take my word for it - have a good look round!

Can you get hold of 'Porsche Post' - the Porsche Club GB magazine? A number of firms worth contacting advertise there. Better still, '911 & Porsche World':
www.chp.ltd.uk

Although probably the most expensive, a good starting point (at least to get a reaction) would be:

I am getting some work done on my 996 lowering, engine upgrade etc... by Par Racing in the Guildford area, I suggest that you speak to Paul who knows his stuff and is very helpful.

i put a fabspeed exhaust and air filter on my 996 and it gives it a fair bit more oomph and lots better sound!

Mine came with the engine upgrade and sports chassis so i am not going to piss about with either as both are beyond criticsm - i have done it in the past but a £500 set of springs will not have been calibrated to work with the dampers, and will worsen the cars dynamics. Even a more expensive suspension kit will be a compromise unless it is serously expensive to cover the development and testing needed

I do want a GT3 kit though!!
