Factory fitted sound effects

I would not ignore this whatever the cause because if the door drops it'll start knocking against the body and damaging your paint. The other things that's vaguely possible is that the hinge could sieze completely and then knacker the captive bolts in the body. Either way I'd get it sorted personally. LeeBee in Oxford did mine.

He did a top job on mine, highly recommended.

Spray on grease and WD40. Gallons of it. Wonderful stuff.
Personally I wouldn't use WD40 on anything. It's cr*p at penetration imo. It washes grease out so I wouldn't use it on anything that had been greased including hinges, door locks or anything like that. Finally it dries to a powder after a while and that has the opposite effect you were initially after I suspect.
Each to their own though
my doors never squeaked until thursday when Psychobert came over to head off for le mans and said "your car is odd, the doors dont squeak" within 48 hours, the passenger door squeaked". The heat expansion point sounds good as it was very warm at LM and now we are back in blighty it isnt squeaking AFAIK.
Next time Psychobert shall say "this is very odd, you dont have a group of naked 21 year old girls sat all over your car".
