I know everyone is probably sick to death of these questions but.......

I was getting prepared for the chassis cleaning this weekend [degreaser; rust convertor/protector; POR15 and chassis black].

On looking below the passenger side I saw a plate bolted to the chassis? approx under the passenger seat and covers the exhaust. Any ideas????? what this is for; not being technical don't want to knacker anything up, least of all creating problems, to the chassis, by taking it off for cleaning and painting.

The outriggers, bits around the brakes / suspension [wishbones hopefully should be ok], etc need a bloody good clean and rustproofing [waxoyl is not working on these bits], main chassis seems ok but will look when I get under there.

Anyone have a suggestion for the underbody paint to protect the wheelarches from stones?

victor, I will in contact soon

Thanks

George

I think the plate you refer to is the one the exhaust is mounted to. Large rectangular plate located by 6 bolts, with a circular hole in the middle. Its pretty likely to be in a shocking state! Easy enough to clean up though, but removal may need the exhaust to be dropped - I took my exhaust off anyway to get at the chassis members, but I can't remember if that was nesessary to get the plate off.

Re: the pit - plenty of notice required, I work away a lot and 'er indoors won't/can't move my Chim, but I'm around every other weekend.
