I'll try and get there, as I love Loton Park. My usual spectating spot is at the end of the straight as they go into that 90 degree left hander near the top.

If the weather is good on Sunday, I'll take the MGB. If not, it'll be the Jag.

Hope you make it to Loton, I'll be doing some of the commentating either at Triangle or at Museum.

Oh and the corner you mention is called Fallow - very tricky and an excellent choice for viewing!

I'm going to go this weekend, could go either Sat or Sun, which is best do you think or are they about equal. Not been to a hill-climb before, usually go to Oulton or similar. Where's the best spectating spot?

Sunday looks on paper to have the better quality entry.

As for spectator spots there are lots!

I would try the following:

In the morning during practice get to the top of the Hill and watch the fun & games at Museum & Fallow. In the afternoon I would suggest Triangle as you are a stones throw from the paddock and there are usually a lot of people outbraking themselves for the corner.

Hope you have a great day.

Thanks for that, really looking forward to it-and the weather looks okay too!

so where is Loton? I know I was sent the entry regs but can't race all events so they were "filed"

Loton Park is on the B4393 near Shrewsbury.

If you are coming from the South or East go round the Shrewsbury ring road, turn onto the A458 then just over two miles later turn onto the B4393.

See you there!

Deffo going to attend. Herself is working on Sunday, so I'm free to do whatever! Good excuse to give the Jag a good run out as well.

See ya there.

I went today, first time I'd been to Loton and really liked it.
Lovely venue, good quick marshall work on turning the groups of cars around and plenty of friendly drivers to chat to about their cars.
Also beer was good and food is a reasonable price.

The viewing area at Triangle feels like an old RAC rally country house stage.
The cars come out of the trees downhill braking to a 130 degree right hander, then a short straight before disappearing into an uphill right left combo.

Glad you enjoyed the day. We had another great day with two new class records despite the slippery track which caused a few of the unwary problems.

Triangle is certainly the favourite spot but next time try venturing up to Fallow & Museum where the cation is a tad faster!

I wandered up the hill during second practice run and towards the end of the timed runs. The braking area into Fallow seemed to be the top place for people making mistakes and locking up while the blind turn in to Museum (strange name for a corner) was good for watching reactions. Lots of kit cars on full power opposite lock coming out of Museum.

I also like the sound of you timing printer comming over the commentry, very reminiscent of final score footy results teleprinter in the 80's.

Nice afternoon out that was cloud9

Weather was agreeable, nice variety of cars going up the hill, and some spirited driving. I particularly enjoyed the Proteus C-Type, that bonkers V8 TR7, and that lovely red modified Imp. I must make a note to watch things at Triangle next year as it was very good entertainment.

Some pics from this afternoon:-

THAT Imp

F355 at Triangle

Nice little TVR Vixen

TR7 with (IIRC) a 5.2 litre V8

Supercharged Lancia

That wasp in one of the commentary booths got a bit troublesome as well by all accounts! smash

Personally I find it annoying! However I have to have the thing on as quiet often you can miss the digital read-out especially when someone is having a 'moment' at Triangle!

Glad you enjoyed the day, see you there in 2008?

Just a minor point - it's an Alta not a Lancia!

As for the wasp that was nothing! A fellow commentator arrived at the old commentary box at Loggerheads a few years back to find a wasp's nest plus a few hundred angry residents! One of the marshals blasted it with an extinguisher however he spent the whole meeting with the door open and ready to make an emergency evacuation!
