Can anyone recommend a nice sounding exhaust for my mates 4.2 Cerbie, he blew a huge hole in one of the back boxes on the way back from Le Mans. Also what sort of price are they?

I got my sports pipe from peninsula. They are well built and sound great. They are also very cheap at £300 a pair.

Your mate can have my old sports pipes for £50 if he wants. They are a couple of years old, but a bit of spit 'n polish and they'll look like new. Let me know if he fancies them. (so to speak..)

Having tried every combination of assorted exhaust systems both with and without cats, I discovered that the best sound can be obtained with a standard exhaust with no cats.

The sound quality of a decat is far superiour to anything you can get with them on, but if you combine it with a sports exhaust, it just becomes too loud, and you lose some of the sound quality.

Just my observations of 53,000 miles in a Cerbie.

In your 53k miles, I am curious to know whether you have been stopped by the cops for being too loud. Does it attract any points / penalty?

How long does it take to put the cats back on to pass the MOT and have them removed after the MOT?

Thanks

I was never stopped for being too loud, even when my car was too loud The cops expect TVRs to be very loud cars, so you could probably get away with a lot that the owner of a Metro wouldn't.

The cats are pretty ewasy to replace, as the 2 canisters just unbolt from their place in the exhaust system. You just get hold of a pair of straight pipes to replace them. It's just a case of removing 8 bolts to get the 2 cats off, and then replacing them. The only time that you can have a problem is if the bolts have rusted up (which is quite common, as they are exposed to a lot of heat).

Probably take you between half an hour and an hour to swap them for the MOT, and about 20-30 minutes to sawp them back.
