the speedo on my 98 chimaera doesnt read until about 20 mph below this it drops right down to 0 again intermitantly any ideas

My 98 Chim also just started doing this, getting worse (ie not reading until 40mph, then 70, no read out etc.), luckily it coincided with a service I already had booked and Towerview reckon it's the speedo sensor, have a search in the archives as I know this is a common failure and there are several DIY options if you fancy getting your hands dirty.

I had a new sensor fitted at Castle TVR.

About £133 IIRC.

My speedo odometer re sets its self back to zero whenever you switch off the engine.!!
