Have been reading the debate on the Chimmy 500 power output with interest - I used to have a 400 but had to sell and am now going to get another TVR. Cerberas are probably a little too expensive to run for me and Tuscans a little too 'dodgy' at times, so a Chim500 would be ideal. Has anyone had thiers on a rolling road or had a definitive indication of power output?
If they are in the 250 - 300bhp range, can they be tuned in any way?
Of course maybe I'm just being greedy and it'll be fast enough anyway!

Power will be around 250-275. Yes they can be tuned to give more but the costs will make running a Cerbera seem very attractive. Need to think of brake and suspension upgrades as well. Whole chapter on this in the bible.

Even so a 500 will still rearrange your internal organs...

There are a few P'Headers in the Griffith section who have done mod's to our cars to varying degrees, take a look at www.greenbear.org.uk to get an idea of what I’ve done, "Apache" (Pete) has also gone down the tuning route. As Steve says the debate about bhp/torque will run and run, but pleasingly TVR's performance figures are more accurate, with the fastest Griff 500 at a TVRCC event posting a 0-100 time of around 12 secs. which is pretty respectable! Approximatly I spent £1,600 on the brakes, £1,100 on the wheels & tyres, £750 on the cam change, and say £1,500 on the induction, chip and rolling road, so say £5k - and that’s only so far because it's like a bug and next I want to upgrade the dampers for adjustable ones and remove the pre-cats. Performance is now pretty gut-wrenching and it pull-and-pulls most satisfactorily right through to 6k revs. But remember the 500 is a pretty amazing as is, and there are still few other cars as fast (mainly newer TVRs ) so go test a few and see what you think.
