So any opinions?

"
It looks as though, having apparently lost Knockhill to Sprinting, a sad
loss to both British and Scottish Sprint Championships that I need a
replacement in Scotland. Because of the strength of support in the
British Sprint Championship from Scottish competitors AND the strength
of the racing car scene in Scottish Sprinting which is stronger than
anywhere else in the UK, I viewed finding a replacement as my highest
priority for 2008.

So for 2008 a venue is being resurrected after a six-year absence. East
Fortune, a motorcycle racing circuit, in the past six years had been
transformed since this was the scene of my last competition outing as a
competitor! Many competitors seem to associate their recollections of
the venue with bumps. The whole of the circuit (apart from about 20
yards) has been totally resurfaced to a very high quality. It was
already a challenging layout and, as a permanent racing facility, I
can’t wait to see the top Sprint competitors whirl round this very
quick circuit.

It will certainly offer the Scottish Sprint competitor something
different they cannot find elsewhere in Scotland, because the layout is
sweeping in many places with nonetheless some very challenging elements
too, whatever car you drive. Each run will be about 3 miles in length so
value for money and "seat time" will certainly not be an issue (even
though the entry fee is likely to be comparable with other double header
weekends). Average run times, when it last ran, over the whole entry was
around the 140 second mark. The event in 2008 will be a double-header
and will have the additional bonus of the seaside town of North Berwick
only 10 minutes from the circuit. May Day Bank holiday weekend has been
mooted as the possible date. Maybe a little bonus weekend, without
HSC points collecting pressures, you might promise yourselves in 2008?
It will certainly be worth the trip from the Highlands.

From Paul Parker"

Just to dismiss some myths,

Melvile Motor Club are allowed to host events on 28 seperate days per year, I have had this confirmed by East Lothian Regional Council, MMC have also confirmed this, but they do use their judgement and limit events themselves. Last year they ran three car events the most prestigious being with Ason Martin Owners Club.

We have been discussing with MMC and have agreement to stage an event, I have asked that an item be placed on the agenda of the next Guyson Committe for discussion, the item being a Sprint round which Lothian Car Club wish to promote and run at East Fortune next year, I will forward full details to the committee shortly, however briefly the event will be in May 3rd/4th to replace the Knockhill round, we hope that Guyson Committee will take a vote and include it in the Sprint Championship, It will be proposed to be a double header for the British Sprint Championship and hopefully at least one round may-be two of the Scottish Sprint Championship (subject to Guyson Committee approval) The HSC may also include it has an away round of their championship.

That all for now watch this space.

I also have my fingers crossed - which does tend to make tiping quote doffocult!

Seriously I hope this double header comes off as one of the main disadvantages for the bulk of the British Sprint Championship contenders has been the long trip North for just one event. I think the two events at East Fortune will draw a bigger entry from the regular championship contenders.

Unfortunately I will be in Baku 3/4 May frown
Pity as I always liked East Fortune when I raced bikes, faster than KH but very bumpy though I believe that has been sorted now, should be good.

CP ????

I'll have you know I was a decent racer, the biggest drawback was the herd of cows that had to be slaughtered to make my new leathers wink
