Im doing the brake upgrade to my 350I following the article left by Mike Hurley. Ive rang up rally design for the spacer kit and stated that I need 10mm spacers and they reckon they dont do them. Any ideas of where to get some others please.

Cheers for that, just thinking about it, 8mm or 10mm does it really make any difference?

Yes you must use the 10mm spacers otherwise the pads will not fit, they will be too thick to fit between disc and pad. I'm afraid the 8 / 10 mm spacer is quite a problem and so far no one has come up with an alternative. The last person to contact me about this found the Rally design had old stock of 8mm spacers but was told that in future only 10 mm would be supplied. good luck.

I've tried Rally Design and a few other places but they only seem to have 8 or 6mm.

Can you let us know if you have any luck finding any.

If not I might think about getting some 10mm ally and make copys of the Rally Design parts cos the callipers are sitting there waiting to be fitted.

When I fitted the Tower View 300mm kit with 4 pot calipers to my wedge, I initially set the spacer up with a pile of washers... Then once I'd got the right width (9mm) I persuaded one of the guys at a local engineering firm to make me a set in his lunchtime... 20 GBP if I remember...

Can supply Autocad drawing and details of firm I used (in Sheffield) if required. email me.

Brian (and a Red 350)

Cheers for that Brian, ive sent an email to you. When I rang Towerview they said they had stopped their brake upgrade kit to make improvements. Also rang up Moore-racing as suggested earlier but there at a race meeting, try on Monday.

Rang up moore racing, they cant help, and emailed burton power in essex, havent heard yet. It looks like im going to have to buy the rally design 8mm kit and get some 10mm spacers made up by an engineering firm.

Watch which spacers you get, mine are from RD and the quality is not up to much ( plus like you say they are not thick enough), the counterbores for the of rings were in some cases deeper than the thickness of the ring and they were also round cross section not like the original square section rings ( the square section look like they will push out and seal when under pressure, the round ones look like fluid would creap passed). also is 10 mm enough the original princess discs were 12mm thick but the granada vented are 24mm, I made my spacers using the RD ones as a template and got a drill ground as a spotfacer at a tool and cutter grinders, the only part i used out of the kit was the split pins the o rings i got from my old ford calipers, brakes do work well though and are highly recommended. burton power may do a spacer kit give them a try.

Carl,
I've some 8mm spacers if you need them to get 10mm copys made up from. Also got 3D CAD data or 2D drawings if thats any use for machining from. Email me if you need them.
If anyone else is interested could consider getting a few sets made at once - normally works out cheaper that way.

Ive got access to lathe and miller in work.If theyre pretty straightforward send me the cad drawing and i could make some.
If its just the two thick washers just send me the dimensions and i'll turn you some.

Well ive found a company for the seal kit, J.E.M was the name, £14 each caliper, not sure if that sounds expensive or not. Still searching for the spacers.

Thanks for the offer. If it comes to making them we've also got some basic gear at work that would probably do the job - or the guys I used to work with have a neat little CNC miller that could handle it if I asked nicely! Cheers.
