Does anyone fancy PM'ing me a ballpark figure for 30 lots of Office 2007 Standard? This is a UK company, not academic/charity/whatever, not upgrades either. I'm a bit dubious of the figures our usual bods are giving me...

Cheers

Neil

The prices are most likely higher than expected due to them quoting you for Retail licenses.

Unfortunately, this is going to be the case as OEM software can only be sold with new hardware. There used to be a flaw where OEM software could be sold with an item of hardware such as a mouse but Microsoft have recently closed the gap.

Below is the price we sell it for...

Microsoft Office Standard 2007 (Full Retail Package) £267 +VAT

The latest news is that he's talking about points and bands and discounts and 2k7 being too common and things, it sounds like he's softening us up for a stern reaming.

You need an Open Agreement .... About 100 quid each then IIRC

Dabs can do this for you ...

What do you mean by 'how far north do you get?'

I would guess he means as in, you're in/around Birmingham and he's in the North West somewhere... Do you travel up around those parts?

We generally keep inside the West Midlands but have been known to stray as far as London.

Neil any chance you could give me an indication of what your getting told via PM from your usual bods as you put it.

We can offer MS Software and I believe one of my sales team sent you a PM (Dave), but we are struggling to get it low enough, any chance you can give us a ballpark what your price is at the moment as it can take a fair bit of work sometimes to get it alot cheaper.

Hope this helps.

We'd love to help a fellow PH'er like we have just done for John(fastfreddy), it is sometimes not a quick process as it's taken us a few weeks to get John the right equipment for the job. But if we can we will try and give a better discount to fellow PH'ers.

Cheers
Paul

I didn't speak to dabs myself, my colleague did but apparently they said 'we don't give out presales info, bye' confused

The gist I got about the open license biz from the other bods was that it depends what quantity/type of licences you're getting, apparently just for 30 2k7 ones it's not that much cheaper.

To be continued, mixed up in something else at the moment.

spike, I was just curious as we're a 2 man band further north. we did get as far south as w'ton in the past but the travel time was a factor...

YHM.

Have quoted you for :

32 x Microsoft Office Standard 2007 Licence
1 PC - Open Business License - Win32 - English

+

1 media Pack as not sure if you need more?

Can you please let us know if thats any good Neil, as stock can change quickly with our suppliers.

Obviosuly we are cheaper than all online outlets as we are a reseller for MS products and work to lower margins.

Thanks
Paul

Thankyou all for your suggestions and replies, it was all very helpfull. In the end the open license aggreement was quite a bit cheaper than full copies (but still a lot more than OEM!!)
