I have had my XK now for a couple of months and I have had one problem, no biggie, but it has happened twice already. Sometimes my car does not recognize my key, I have to manually press the unlock button then I have to insert the key into the slot in the armrest or it will not start. Has this happen to any of you guys?

Mine started to tell me in the centre console that the smart key battery was low/dead. It happened with both the smart keys I have, and Jag said its not the key but the car. So I took the car in and they fixed it same day.

I reckon its the same thing, as it was asking me to use the manual key but I didnt need to as I already had the ignition on.

Yes, may need a software update or re-boot. Is a recognised issue, so should be an easy fix.

I've had the low battery thing a couple of times but it always starts then goes away by itself, I've not bothered to have it looked at.

Yeah, mine kept going away then coming back. But do you want it to come back with a vengence when you really cant afford it to? Get it in the dealers for a fix. At same time get your mirrors activated. biggrin

Checked tonight and my mirror fold option was already enabled, once the engine is off the mirrors fold once the doors are locked then fold back when unlocked. I've actually got a Model Year 07.25 so I don't know if perhaps it was enabled after the first run of XKR's.
