How much for a fully loaded S Class?

Plus you can pretend you care about the planet while enjoying the luxury

Glorified Toyota Camry for the hard-of-thinking.

i was ready to dislike a lexus just for being a lexus, but to be honest, that looks quite smart, even for 80k.

Thats why you'll find your average owner has previously owned an S Class, 7 Series and an XJ and is on their 5th LS..... they do what they claim unlike the opposition

Nothing out wafts an LS just ask Derestricter for Details.... anyone who puts an LS down has blatantly never driven one

Why pay more for an inferior nay unreliable S Class? and in its latest guise its actually better looking than a 7 Series or an S Class!

but save your money and just buy the 460!

I think it definitely looks better than an S class and it will probably be as good if not better.

I ran a company LS400 for most of 1998 and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. It's the perfect car for people who know nothing about cars - reliable, quiet, brisk and plenty of toys. It lacks everything and anything PH. No soul, no character, mediocre handling and zero fun. No one on earth would get up at 4am for a blast in an LS400.

yes Even the earliest cars were remarkable - and most of them are still on the road.

The price is high, but how much do BMW, Mercedes, or Jaguar charge for their long wheelbase, luxury, four wheel drive, hybrid ? Oh, wait...

To be fair I wouldn't get up at 4am for a blast in a S class either.
Me neither, but I might for a CLS 63 AMG for the same money. . . . . .

As gazboy points out, this car isn't designed to be fun. It's designed to be supreme at one particular task - getting people from A to B in as much comfort as possible - and it accomplished that mission fully. I have no experience of the newest and most luxurious Lexus but I have tried previous models, and I found them all to be absolutely superb barges.

The majority of people who can shell out £80k on a Lexus (or run one as a company ride) will be able to afford something far more "fun" to play with at the weekend.

Personally I would feel no shame in shelling out for top-line Lexus were I in the market for a luxo-barge.

A while back I actually ran a VW Phaeton as my daily ride for several months, and what the car lacked in agility it made up for with comfort. The Lexus develops the same ethos even further.

Build and comfort levels aren't even in the same league though. Horses for courses and all that.

Personally I'd rather run the Lex daily and save the Exige S for the early morning blatt! Not a totally unrealistic prospect when we're talking about this end of the market.

Everyone to their own, but I can't think of anything further from PH than an LS400. I suppose it would be OK if you have a chauffeur and like to sleep, but I quite like to enjoy my daily driving as well as my weekend hoons.

If in the market for a top money waft wagon I would purposefully seek out one of those as oppose to the alternative Merc or Beemer....they are understated, don't mark you out as being an arrogant to$$er and are just better.

Yeah, although the sound of the creaky dashboard will cause premature deafness.

It does everthing all the other marques do and more. The ONLY reason people really criticise it is due to the badge. Release the exact same car with a Merc, BMW or Audi badge and everyone would be singing it's praises. The thread title itself is proof itself, if it were a Merc would anyone start a thread "Mercedes £81,000!!!!"? Of course not, it's all badge snobbery.

Bet its a gazillion times more reliable than all the germans.

Is it worth £81k? IMO of course not, but then again nor are any of the S class, 7 series, A8 etc. are either. they all lost £20/30k in the 1st year.

Hell, if nothing else, the thing can park itself, that's gotta be worth the £81k in itself biggrinbiggrin
