Hi all, a few friends and I have recently all bought RWD cars; CSL, Clio V6, 355 etc. and we're looking to go somewhere to get some tuition. We don't want to do any road-based training as we expect to explore the limits (read: spin a few times) and we don't want to do this on a trackday either as we'll just end sessions and ruin everyone else's fun.

We considered Bruntingthorpe with Don Palmer but have now decided not to go down the route of using his services, although we haven't counted out Bruntingthorpe itself.

Can anyone suggest any companies/individuals we could go to for a day's training on an airfield? There are 4 of us in total. Duxford would be great, as we're based in Home Counties.

Thanks in advance.

Andy Walsh - Car Limits.

PS - What's wrong with Don?

We'd just rather not use him.

Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming.

I'm doing the Car Limits course next week. Seem to be no end of people recommending Andy's course so I thought I'd give it a bash.

Excellent, let us know how you get on. Having driven there (not on Andy's course), I thought it was a bit small. It'll be interesting to hear how you got on (and how your tyres are)!

A four person day with Andy Walsh at North Weald would seen the ideal choice.
The area is plenty big enough to spin and it would be just the 4 of you plus Andy with the whole day to have fun !

An alternative is motorsport events who do airfield 'Acadamy' training days. Cheaper but more people so less tuition time.

I did it yesterday. Very good value for money.

I learned some very useful stuff and had plenty of opportunity to loon about trying to put it into practice.

Thanks for your replies guys. Looks like we're going to try Andy.

Frankly, I'm quite amazed at how unprofessional most of the 'coaches' are when you try to book a day. They want stupid money, i.e £250 pp, around £1000 a day just to sit in your car and teach you. For that money you'd think some of them would be quite pro-active and keen to get you onboard. Most have been very aloof and unprofessional which is probably why they're little more than a one-man band.

But you want the organ-grinder, not the monkey?
