its already 250,-pound too expensive...

a basket case...outside not good, inside not good....it seams even "impossible" for the owner to clean the alloys a little bit....i pressume the rest of the car is in the same state.

positive: no sunroof!!!

Hi,

Basket case....?????? not sure where you're looking mate, it's got nearly a full ticket on it for a start. Sounds like it had a lot of money spent on it in the past and also looks to sit lower than standard so maybe had some work in that area, engine's worth more than £250, and I'd say anything under a grand would be a fair price to pay. Interiors are usually weak on 6a's but nothing which can't be sorted and the body looks straight and original as does the rest of the car, just in need of some attention.

every area on this car needs attention.

much spent doesnt mean automatically "high " sales price. the market tells the price, not the folder full of receipts!!!

and such dirty alloys say everything. if somebody is so stingy that he doesnt invest in a bottle of wheel-cleaner and 20min work ..there is nothing to say more.

there was recently a much, much better one, also via ebay, for 540,-pound...buy-now price (!!)...and nobody bid..that must have a reason... i guess it was to expensive, too. i´m in discusion with the owner now to "convince" him selling it for 400,-

I may be wrong but those look like original steel wheels to me. They are usually covered by a trim. They certainly arent wolfies and with its weird offset and pcd not much else will fit a Scim.

Looking at the wheel I think you are right in wich case they are composite wheels so we were both right or wrong.

As for its value its worth what someone will pay for it. Not a good colour IMHO and no mention is made of crazing on the bodywork. If there is no crazing then it must be worth a punt as this is very expensive to sort out.

my feelin says: max 600,- an first i would like to see pictures of dash, seats, headlining, front suspension, closer view of wheels.

also the car is located on a small island near glasgow...this will increse the costs for pick-up

check out this auction and tell me what you think:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

and before:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

and here how it really was:

it was basically a heap of scrap. The body is in dire need of a respray. The interior in dire need of a retrim. The car had not been garaged but had been barn stored and hadn't even been washed or the inside dusted prior to sale. The heater was disconnected and we later discovered that the oil cooler for the auto tranmission was missing (when it blew all the fluid out the gearbox). The worst thing though was that the MOT was not worth the paper it was printed on. There was a hole in the chassis and the suspension was seized to the point of being rigid. The MOT was issued on the 1st May so not really 12 months. However I threatened the MOT issuing garage with reporting them to VOSA - the licensing authority for MOT's and they were so worried that they travelled the 200 miles up to where I live and bought back the car for the money I paid for it. the seller and the mot garage owner are friends.

Well i took the plunge and bought the car on Friday, managed the journey home (approx 130 miles)with virtually no major disasters, engine held good pressure, overdrive worked for about 10 miles then gave up the ghost, front offside brake caliper will need stripped as it sounds like it is binding and the exhaust seems to be rubbing the chassis under the passenger footwell somewhere. All things to do in the longer term. Chassis would appear ok, however i am no expert so will have to wait until later in the week to get it up on a ramp .Body wise would benefit from total stripdown with stress cracks quite apparent on the front end and roof, but what I might do in the long run would be to get the car a1 mechanically and leave the body as is.The interior was filthy, dashtop on the drivers side a wee bit curly, drivers' seat totally knackered so will either re-cover or replace.Must have spent a good 10 hours on Saturday cleaning everything so the car looks ok from a distance now! Might be the worst decision ever made , but so far i love it. Away to take some better pictures, will post shortly.

the overdrive cant have given up as the car does not have an overdrive.

only manual gearboxes can have an overdrive. yours is fitted with an automatic box.

and the car has a new mot but sticking brakes?..oh!!!

have you had tme to check the chassis?

Don't know what made you think the car is an auto,it is a manual! I think the brakes need freed because the car was MOT'd in Feb, but hasn't really moved since. Will be getting the car on a 4 post lift tomorrow pm, so fingers crossed.

Well, it looks very nice, well done!

Comadis demonstrates that looks can be deceptive. A useful lesson about the dreaded Fleabay.
