Hi all,

Just purchased a 2001 C5 diesel as a work workhorse, but I cant find any details of key codes or stereo codes.

Am I in the sh*t here, or is there an easy solution? It has come with one electronic key, and one which is just the metal bit inserted into an inert looking bit of plastic in a fairly old fashioned manner.

Over to the collective...

Jon,

You have the correct keys, one 'plipper' and one 'normal' key, but you should also have a plastic tag with a code on it, which can be used by Citroen to give you a new key if you lose yours. It may be in with the user manual, if not, don't worry too much since you can use the VIN instead. Just try not to lose both keys else Citroen will shaft you for a new one!!

As for the stereo, there is no code, when a new stereo is fitted it has to be 'matched' to the car by the computer at a Citroen dealer. I replaced my old stereo unit (with a cassette player!) with one I won on eBay, installed it myself and then took it to the dealer and they matched it for me in less than 10 mins free of charge. Some dealers try to charge for ½ hour or 1 hour labour, so you may need to shop around.
