I'm a lucky boy. If the S3 gets left out without it's cover in a torrential down pour (such as last weekend for example) - the boot fills up - which is handy in summer as I can use it as a paddling pool.

Now it has to be said that the design of the boot lid is a bit crap - the trench created by the lid in it's sill is so bound to fill up in the rain. Is this is common problem ? Is it just a case of new seals - or has everyone else been drilling plug holes in the bottom ?

Thanks,

WG

Stick a coat hanger down those drain holes in the corners of lip recess (you can see other end just behind rear tyres - if you say what drain holes, then they are really clogged!

Should be drainage holes at each of the front
corners of the "trench". These lead via some
plastic tubing out through the boot floor when
i got mine these were totally bunged up with
gunge but once cleared (wire coat hanger)
they have been okay.

Glad to help m8 - I only knew coz the seller warned me to keep an eye - they can get blocked regularly.

I see you're London based - I'm nr. Stansted Airport (M11/A120) if you're in the vicinity give me a shout (roar!)

OK, I've had this... Podie's top tips!

1) Clean and polish the channels
2) Replace tubing (old stuff gets cracked)
3) Use silica gel and a hair dryer to dry the boot

Likewise - I'm based around the other side in West London - if you're around - rev loudly (is there any other way ?)

I cleaned out the drainage holes on my S3 and could not believe the sh*t that came out of them - truly remarkable. They really could do with cleaning through once every couple of months to allow water to pass through without spilling into the boot.

Did this simple job with a coathanger at the weekend and it's now all sorted. Thankyou all.

Incidently - discovered that a bicycle pump and a bucket of water is quite good for blasting detritus thru once the initial blockage has shifted.
