good choice

my dad has a terrible car history, some of his previous crimes are as follows

Morris marina
Morris Ital (the marina was so good he bought another one)
Austin Allegro
renault 19
citroen ZX (decent car, but why not buy the way better looking but mechanically identicle 306)
rover 420 diesel
VW bora (crappy model golf, with an ungainly and impracticle boot, they drive absolutely terribly aswel)

he could quite honestly say his best car was a cortina GL mkV estate... yay dad.

when I was 4 years old my dad had a renault 21 PPJ 800R, don't ask me how I remember that. I though it was a cool car, in metallic blue, 5 speed, central locking, electric windows, electric sunroof. It was fast too or at least to a 4 year old. It rusted into dust by the time I was 6.

I think his best car is the one he has now. A S reg BMW 328 coupe metallic blue, black leather interior. I think it's done about 15000 miles and it is totally mint some would say in the same condition it left the factory. I'll get some piccys to show you all.

My Dads car highlights were a Jag like Morse had (mk2?) and a Citroen GS estate. Different but very individual cars. He's now got a Focus Zetec!

..... are you the brother I never knew about?

My Dad's list is exactly the same, then add an Ariel Square 4, and a Bonneville.

Add into the mix a Morris Minor Traveller, Morris Ital, Austin Maxi, Ford Escort 2000(RS), AC Cobra 427 (1966, inheritted & sold, bought a house, just about the time I was born) Austin Metro, Ford Cortina, Vauxhall Cavalier, Peugeot 40?, and lord knows how many VW Golf's....

Hummm lets see. Escort mk2 (something at the bottom of the range). Transit Mini bus. Bedford Midi. Lada Riva 1.5 & 1.3 (for us kids to drive), Hyundi Pony x2, and finaly an Omega 2.5 Elite.

Although before I was born his 1st car was a 3 liter Humber, and his dad (my grandad), had a 3.0 Capri and an Opel Manta.

My Dad always wanted a Merc, in the days when that meant something in the UK.

His last car b4 he died was a Mundano, I suppose that tells me something.
The sad thing is he could have afforded anything he wanted, in reality.

The 'best' car he ever had was the Fiat 500, it got a lot of laughs...

yes All too well. As it sounds as though you're going to, I overcompensate at every available opportunity.

Our child's mates give a grudging respec' (they're teenagers, it's the best you're going to get out of them) to the RS4. Although we have to go in convoy with the Land Rover spaz wagon, he's been to school in all manner of high performance silliness borrowed through my work driving

After a succession of Metro's and Maestro's (Good on PH for the Project)... Dad succumbed to the lure of the blue oval, depite being in the employ of Austin Rover.

As a family we charged round in a Sunburst red XR3 Escort (webber equipped- pre injection). 120,000 miles later it went, and was replaced by.... you've guessed it... another Maestro rolleyes

Austin Rover made him park outside the factory perimeter - it wasn't allowed 'on site'..!
