I use Orange, £18 a month. Hardly ever had a problem. Don't ask me what the Gb figure is, I don't know. All I do know is that it works.

Just noticed (right here on this forum) an ad for Pipex, about £9 a month I think.

With the difference I could, for example, cover the premium for Sky HD.

So should I dump Orange for Pipex? I tried the Sky broadband service once and got rid of it quickly as it was crap. I like reliability, so I went back to Orange again.

Without knowing what you use your broadband for its very difficult to advise you what to do.

Personally I think spending more for broadband would be a way of avoiding Skys HD charges.

Well, I use broadband for THIS most of the time!

I don't download very often (usually software) and I never play games. Just surfing all the most popular porn sites like Amazon, Autotrader, eBay etc etc, and forums like the P&P.

If its just surfing and the odd bit of software then buy on price and price alone.

It was bought by Tiscali. They are all shite really. Anyone who pays £7.99 - £20 a month and expects a high quality service is living in cloud cuckoo land.

No, they could switch to Be* and get 8mb unlimited broadband for £14/month with great service - 24hour free helpdesk too. I pay £18 and get upto 24mb (not quite there though).

Just wait until the shit hits the fan big time. Then see what level of service you get.

Well i've had problems before, and they have been resolved easily. There is a decent user forum, where staff and experienced users help out. I know people who have been with them since their early trials in London - and have had no issues.

Only slight issue is the box they give you is a bit crap for wireless, but you can just use your own - and most ISPs at this price range don't even give you one.

I am suffering terrible service at the moment with them, and working out who to jump ship to.
Not for the first time either, it's just such a ball ache moving broadband supplier.

Got to say Tiscali are much better than they used to be, we now pay £20 ish per month for 2Mb broandband, line rental & free evening & weekend calls. No BT rental to pay.

So cheap and it's been reliable (so far)

Hope that helps

99% of the time if you're having connection problems with ADSL and it's not due to your own equipment it's due to a crappy BT line and nothing to do with the ISP so changing won't help.

I guess not. I must admit I can't fault Orange (or Wanadoo as it was when I signed up), I don't know what their customer service is like because I don't think I've ever called them. I just wondered if I could get the same for half the price. Seems not - guess YGWYPF

cheers

Very true and very sad that a company who started out as one of the best is now one of the worst by a long way. I have got a complaint into Ofcom about them and it looks like I'll have to go to the ombudsman to sort it finally.

Seconded.

I pay £52 per month for the Zen Office 50gig package - 832up/8128down(new BT copper from chez railer to the exchange ) - my line will flatline at 830KBps day or night.

You do get what you pay for.

Router PPPoA uptime in many hundreds of hours (until I bork some config and have to reboot it hehe )
