The darkest of the dark arts - overtaking - as in witchcraft?

Zen and the art of changing gear - Zen?

Left foot braking - lethal on the road

Semi Auto Techniques... LOL please

Very dangerous riding - nice :-)

Roundabouts.... - and?

Was hoping to find some useful info in there but after reading the topics lost interest, some odd threads tho......

Could we have another sub section for raceCar driving techniques? maybe in MotorSport and named racers? would be great
for sharing info on driving/kit/starting up etc etc

Don't knock 'em. It may not be as exciting as hooning with gay abandon, but a nubmer of guys who frequent that forum write some good stuff and are always willing to give good advice. The separate forum idea isn't a bad one, just don't rubbish the Advanced one. Most of the threads you've highlighted are by R U LOCAL, who seems like a top guy and very smart.

ETA: Try asking in the Website Feedback section if you want a new section starting up - they seem quite receptive to new ideas.

Generally new forums are opened when the number of threads on a certain subject indicate that there's demand.

I'd suggest the track day forum or the motorsport forum would be a good place to start discussing these topics in the first instance.

I'm not him but you can do that yourself without posting on a completely unconnected thread. Go to My Info, Profile and change your name.

Sure, but it might push the non posting racers into chatting about this topic if there was a dedicated forum, would you not consider a month
trial?

New forums don't work unless people know that they are there. We need a critical mass of interest demonstrated before creating an empty room. smile

Cheers.

Go to website feedback. I've started a thread in there, I think it could be a good idea.

I would be up for this, general motorsport has a good lot of info about general news and views, but it's hard to get proper technical discussions going as they can get pushed out.

Now is as good a time as any to give it a try, as there are a lot of racing drivers out there with time on there hands (well, in between getting ready for next year of course).

I think that's the right place for it, and your original thread (i.e. this one) seems to have been moved there. I guess the second thread you started has been closed to avoid having two threads on the same topic.

I feel that the forums that could touch on this don't quite manage it. General motorsport is more filled with the spectator side of things. Advanced driving, seems more to do with roadcraft. Track days are wel, just that meting up for trackdays. (Not that any of those are a bad thing of course)
I agree with ^^^

It wouldn't just have "Exactly how to take corner x at track y" But as a meeting point for racers in similar formulae, advice on prepping your car/bike for the coming season, how to get started in motorsport, etc. Like general gassing but specifically for racing drivers.

No general Motorsport is just that and full of threads about how crap Lewis etc

A racers room :-) would be for people that race and want to chat about the subject without having to dig though loads
of threads, there's been some good stuff in there but it gets lost.

There's a room for *Gilbern's* with 123 topics started, i'm sure the racer room would fill with great info much very quick :-)

Might be better to seperate the endless rubbish talked about F1 into its own forum, therefore leaving General Motorsport for people who actually like motorsport.

Sounds like a good idea to me - technical threads drop off p1 in General Motorsport very quickly.
