You could do what I always do, which is Rain-x the windscreen when you pollish the car. Means driving at over 40mph & the water just beads off like it does on a freshly pollished bonnet !
I'll second rain-x. It's the doggies danglies..... but you get some funny looks at 70mph (or thereabouts, officer) on a motorway in light rain, when everyone else has wipers on, and you don't

That sounds like stuff to rush out and buy...............
Halfords?

Halfords, or "any good motor factors".... Comes in a yellow bottle... You can also get a screen wash version which means your wipers take less of the stuff off when you have to remove bugs...

Bugs...........Bugs....OMG........
Don't mention bugs......we have a yellow Cerb..........bonnet looks like a crematorium every time we take it out!!!!
Is it my imagination...or are there more bugs this year?...
Still, thanks for the info re rain-x....

i have to endorse rain-x as well.
i believe that they make a cleaner, which is usful because you do need to get the screen really clean of grease before you apply rain-x, however i didn't bother with that as i had only recently shelled out on autoglym glass polish - this seemed to do the trick anyhow.
halfords do a product which is 'similar' and i am told that this is also very good.
it is brilliant, being able to drive down the road at a reasonable pace in torrential rain, using the wipers on intermmitant ( on the longest delay ) to remove a light mist when the stuff has been on there for 3 months ( every day driver ). when it's freshly applied it is fantastic.
i also use the washer stuff they produce. i ran the bottle dry one day, because the road spray was filthy and there was no rain to dilute it, and must have literally wiped the rain-x off - so be careful to keep the washer topped up and it should last for ages.
you can also use it on the side windows and wing mirrors, but i don't think it is suitable for plastic rear screens.
it also reduces the 'comedy wiper effect' i used to have......

I used it for a while and it is great, but you do have to keep on re-applying it or it does go misty. I found that in the winter I couldn't find time in the dry and light to re-apply it (more often than 3 months I think, but didn't use the washer additive) as I don't have a garage. The misty stage is a pain, so I gave up and let it wear off.
Don't think rainex is suitable for plastics, but I'd think there'd be an equivalent some where, would be a godsend for bike visors.
