super mario galaxy
Discussion
Silly old me. In my excitement I didn't see this thread.
Yes, its great. Graphics are bright and colourful and look great. Plays in full widescreen and 480p too. Utterly and completely a mind
! Who would have thought it would be so difficult to find something on a ball so small!
Plays well and the Wii controller fits well with the actions, does not feel tacked on at all. So far on the second galaxy (well the first from the training section) and the diversity is superb. From what I have read, its gets better as the planets get bigger, smaller and more and more bizarre. It seems like a lesson on how to re-invent a genre. Take something that the industry says is dead and give it a completely new spin (to coin a phrase).
Brilliant.

I have to say that the game is utterly brilliant. The diversity of the planets is amazing. The graphics are good (no bump shaders and HDR here, but who cares when it looks this good!) but the music is utterly stunning! Progressing nicely through the first galaxy and soaking up every element.
I read a review of it a few days ago. Basically they said that its like the first time that you played Mario 64 - you know, the one in 3D. They wrote the rule book when it came to Mario 64, but it really does seem that they have re-written it for SMG. Time will tell obviously, but I think we will see some of the mechanics you find in SMG in other games in the very near future.
Good one Nintendo.
Oh, and Metroid Prime is excellent too - cannot imagine playing a 3rd person shooter without a Wii controller now!

Hadn't played on the Wii for a while, but after the good reviews you guys were giving this game, I thought it was worth a try.
Really entertaining, perfect game for the Wii.
EDIT: Forgot to ask your help:
I'm stuck quite early on, the green monster thing that hatches out of the egg, I just can't kill it. Im attacking its tail but it always gets me in the end, i can't seem to run away from it very easily.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Don't suppose you know of anywhere with the guitar available seperately, playing through it with the old GH2 one but quite fancy the new one.
Sorry, no.Anyway enough of the hijack thread!
I'm off to kick bowsers ass!! (when I get home from work)

Currently at 52 odd stars. Not really missing much, replaying all levels to get all the stars I can.

You don't need many, 50 or so to unlock him, basically you need to get 6 power stars in order to power up the engine room and fight him.
There are 121 stars altogether though in the game.
I thought there were only 120! Whats the extra one?? Or don't I want to know? Will it spoil it?There are 121 stars altogether though in the game.

Top game, spent a good few hours on it already, even went as far as to take the wii through to the bedroom after I was hogging the main TV too much!!
