I know that there are some good sites out there in WWW land that offer help to both builders and owners alike. But, wouldn't be very useful if Ultima were to offer a "Technical" type page on their web site?

I'm thinking along the lines of a "Trouble Shooting" page. You know the sort of thing ......

Q. 'I have a loud rattle coming from the gearbox area, what might it be?'

A. 'Try looking to see if bearing in the rear of your crank has come adrift!'

This example may be a little flipant following my recent troubles, but this is a serious post. I have not given the format much thought, but I've heard so many people say they wish they had heard about a particular problem earlier, only to hear that the factory had experienced a similar problem before!

Just an idea!

Agreed, it would be immensly helpful. Other boards have approached this by having the questions answered in the "FAQ" forum.

Errr... that's why I set up the FAQ bit of this forum!

See the menu above, click on 'This Forum' then 'Show FAQs' and you can lob stuff there.

Could be clearer, but that's what it's there for

My point is ...... would a FACTORY board of this type be of help?

The factory does have a FAQ on their site, but it's pretty generic. If they where to list all the questions they get from builders + post the answers it would be nice. I think they would find they end up answering the same question over and over again. The time spent putting up the FAQ would probably be less than the time it takes to answer the question multiple times.

Of course, but I'll leave it to you to ask them to set it up and maintain it!!!!

Trust me, that's why the FAQ is here.

There needs to be one somewere!

Not certain yet (I'll confirm in morning) but I may have made a silly, easily done error that's cost me 180quid for a new battery!.

Well, you can always mail the tips to me and I'll add them to the 'Tips' section of my site.

Or maybe I'll add an 'Essential Tips'

I'll have a word with Ted abuot having a permanent section here (but again, that's why he set up the FAQ).

Stig,
What about asking the factory to add a link to their site for "Other FAQ's" and redirect this to your site thus alleviating them of the responsibility of continually updating it and making all the FAQ's more readily available and up to date.
