I've had enough of the quest for 200. I've had a fair few Vmax attempts to scratch that itch so now I can concentrate on making me and the car faster on track.

So if Vmax is no longer a goal, do you think that for 497 BHP the std G50 03 ratios should be popped back in?

Pete

Jeez did I say something to offend? Only just met and you're off! Still remember the ring idea, nice place to try out those G50 ratios!

The Ring is exactly the kind a place I want to make sure that the std G50 03 ratios don't compromise.

What sorta speed do you need on the straight there?

I'll only have 175 to play with. Is that enough?

More than enough especially since you cannot blast the straight
on Touristfahren days smile

Let me know if you are looking for a new home for that long top gear. Would go nicely as a cruising 6th in my G50-20.

There are probably a handful of places where you could get up to 175mph/280kmh
on the Ring but probably not too wise to do so smile

The fastest I have gone was in my twin supercharged M5 - 260kmh.

Been a passenger in a Z06 with the LS7 that was faster.

Have you driven the Ring?

No Sir. I haven't. And I don't have any delusions of grandure....

....But, and I think the Ultima troops would agree, when you set your mind (and cash) to a goal, you wanna take on advise, chew it over, then make your informed decision that you hope will get you there.

Any more nuggets for Ring virgin?

i was due to drive the ring this year but car changes put pay to it. I have a friend who goes every year and his friend tests for Audi on there and he was going to pace me so i didnt get into trouble.

The problem seems to be after a couple of laps you start to think you are getting to know the track ..... you can steam over a hill with the thought that there is a nice long straight to follow to find a 90 degree bend with no run off things get ugly quickly!!!!

I could speak with graham to see when he plans to go next year then we could organise a run down and do some pace laps behind william???

My advice would be to be careful. VERY careful.

And Ultima is probably not the car you should be driving your
first laps on the Ring - especially if you spent hundreds of hours
building it....... Things can end in tears very quickly.

Here is a clip from last summer where I was very close to crashing
my trackcar: http://www.onno.is/thordur/almennt/BMW_Fahrerlehrg...

I would recommend that you read Ben Lovejoys site fram A-Z:
www.nurburgring.org

Good info can also be found at http://www.northloop.co.uk/

Also, some kind of a driving course would be recommended - here is
a link to my trip report to the BMW training at the Ring last summer:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.ph...

It´s a one of a kind place - alot of fun when driven ehrm... responsibly:

I f%$King love Pistonheads!!

Where else can you get information on tap like this?? thumbup

Thanks Thor!!

And of course you meant to do this?? whistle

Don't worry, our cars can be driven slowly as well as quickly and I take on board your comments. My ball size is inversly proportional to armco proximity, so I should be OK.......with a bit of luck!

I guess one can purchase some kind of monitor with your position and next few corners mapped out.Like sat nav crossed with Sega???

Thanks again.

It was quite a moment and certainly not planned smile

As close to a underwear changing pitstop as you get IMHO!!!

I´d rather recommend a Playstation or an Xbox smile

What's wrong with driving the ring in your own ultima, you don't have to be as committed as Thordur to seeing your backside overtake your frontside, go on say you'd like to have a go, it's what you built it for really, bookings being taken now for july/augustwobble
