At any speed above 50 I end up with a gap appearing between the roof and top of the door window. Have tried adjusting the window, filling the targa seal but whilst helping, I still have the gap.

I have seen recomendations to fit the later seals as they are better than the orginals (1992 Griff 4.0). Has anyone done this or fitted any other seals.

Morning, I have one of the last 100 griffs and I have the same problem, although the speed does have to be higher, around 80. It only seems to happen on the drivers side and the garage have tried different things and have only managed to improve it slightly to its current state. I find that when putting the roof pannel back in, moving it only a fraction of a mill will make a difference either way!!

Can you move the panel a little to the right before you snap the struts? It's quite critical on mine.

I'm not aware of the difference between the earlier and later cars, but I would be inclined to give a new seal a try. Mine were getting quite perished and Dave Batty replaced them a few years ago - since then I am constantly pulling mine out of the channel and fiddling to get them back.

From what you're describing though, your roof is moving a fair bit. Only the other day I was chatting to someone at PF who had experienced a roof shedding moment. Is it being held firmly enough? Can the rear struts be adjusted?

I think everyone's roof has a different fit and general quirk-filled-existence. Seals are (as you've already tried) only part of the picture....

Yes simpo one. It may only be a fraction of a millimeter but there is deffinate a difference on mine. My fitment on divers side is completely different to the passenger side, and I'm assured that this is different to any other car, and yours will be different too etc etc etc. Unique i think they call it!!!

Indeed Reeso - my S3 and Griff 4.0 roofs thunked into place perfectly every time, but the 500 is a tricky bugger. The central locating post has a white plastic sleeve round it, but it doesn't seem big enough to ensure a perfect location. I guess they cut the little gouge too wide..?

NB: With practice you can get an S3 roof without moving from behind the car. Sit both panels in place on the rear hood and push the whold caboodle forwards - with luck the tongues will go straight into the slots! I suppose the single panels of the 'curvies' makes this too difficult.

I have found that with mine after locating the roof if you give it a wiggle from side to middle it seems to slip in a bit further which helps drop it down that bit more ( try and note a smaller gap above door window and between Front Window frame top and roof).

Of course this may be different on other cars but all worth a try.
