Hi guys,

The mechanic I gave my 1992 S3C to, cannot identify the
brake master cylinder which needs replacîng. (I'm based in Switzerland)

I told him it certainly came from a Sierra or Granada but the guy needs apparently more info to get the parts from his supplier.

Would anyone knows more about it ?

Thanks in advance. My car is stuck with him and I would like to get it back before the week end

It would help if you decsribed the setup. Does it have a remote reservoir or an integrtaed one? If integrtaed it is likely to be a Ford unit and there will be a Ford ID marking on it. You should be able to trace it through that. BUT.... There are about 30 or so different Sierra/Granada brake master cylinders but the important thing is the servo fitting, the bore and the pipework. The pipework can be overcome with new pipes but the other two must be right.

I doubt you will be able to match it with a car name/model year because of the variation. Tracjing through the ID or a direct comparison will be the only way forward. Alternatively get one from TVR.

Thanks a lot for your help guys !!

I told the mechanic to try to see if a SAAB 9000 type would match. Otherwise I'll follow your precious advice Steve.

Long thin one with a remote reservoir is from a Saab 9000. I got one from David Gerald, had it in stock and is more than likely to be a lot cheaper than getting one from Saab!
