My Dad has a 2001 2.0 Mondeo with about 65k miles. He has heard that they are prone to 'flywheel failure' at about 70k miles. Does anyone know if this is true, apparently its an expensive job?

Think he's had enough of this car, its cost him loads since he bought it. The old Mondeo he had did 300k and never went wrong once!

Is it a dual mass flywheel? They seem to be prone to trouble in just about everything they have been fitted to. Having said that, they are by no means guaranteed to fail and many have gone on to do huge miles.
