Have fun Paul, one of the best things you can do in your car! Be sure to take in either the Route Napoleon from Grenoble or one of the spectacular passes over the Alps (depending which way your going)...

We have a route planned with a stop over on the way, then a nice villa booked near Fermo. I had the air con re-gassed, think we might need it

We went to Tuscany a few years back in the S2 before I sold it. Since then have benn back over a few times, but always hired a punto or similar.... not the same at all. Was great to be in a, errr, 'competitive' car.

I've just returned from a continental trip: driving to Italy through Germany, and returning through France. The heat was considerable (nudging 40 deg in Italy) and the heat given off by the Griff even more so: air con must be a most desirable option when its that hot. Had a few problems with the car but none to actually warrant calling in the AA 5*, and of course those unrestricted sections of Autobahn are lots of fun!
What's more petrol was about 1.0 Euro or in some place just below, but on the downside the tolls can add up.
