That's not an early test ejection. In fact, it looks quite recent. I would guess the 1990s - judging from the motif "Canada" painted on the side of the T-33.

The old Royal Canadian Air Force ceased to exist in around 1966/67 when all Canada's defence armes were merged into the generic "Canadian Armed Forces" and from that time that was what was painted on the side of the aircraft - in English on one side and French on the other. More recently, this has been abbreviated to "Canada".

FT - whatever about the details listed below that picture of the CT-33 Shooting Star, the actual picture itself is not that old. Back in the 1950s T-33s would have been in all all silver colour scheme with fairly bright canadian markings and the legend "Royal Canadian Air Force" or "RCAF" on the side.

That picture, as I've already mentioned, shows what are the current Canadian markings. The camouflage is also modern dull grey with the national insignia in toned down shades of grey (which is current practice) compared to the "proper" red white and blue roundel. Although not clearly visible, the fin flash on that T-33 is also a toned down version of the modern Canadian Maple Leaf red and white national flag. Prior to 1966, the old style red flag with Union Jack in the top left hand corner was carried on the fin of Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft.

Older aircraft are often used for ejection seat trials. Martin Baker here in the UK still use two 1950s vintage Gloster Meteors.

That's superb. I know it's 'only a piece of engineering' but my eyes started welling up a little then. Poor Concorde seems to look quite sad about it, too.

If someone has enough evidence on the existence of Aurora to win a £20 bet, they probably have enough evidence to initiate enquiries into where they got that evidence by the CIA.

There have been lots of "black" projects over the decades since WW2. The "real" ones have all come to light - eventually. The spoof ones, well, they obviously never existed and so could never be formally revealed as there was nothing to reveal.

Anyone remember the furore over model makers Revell's relaese of their F-19 Stealth Fighter kit?

I was once told that an RAF pilot once took a Hunter under Tower Bridge! Does anyone out there know if it's true and are there any photos?
