Wales Rally - Where to go?

Bit of an odd one this, bear with me.
A friend and I are going to the rally this year (and have not yet booked tickets(!)). In other threads and other forums, hints have been made that you can get away without paying if you pick your places to enter the venue carefully. We will be going with mountain bikes in a lowered(!) VW camper-style van; maybe another car too.
Which is the best stage to go to bearing in mind bikes?
Does anyone know of any camp sites or places where we can camp very near to the stage (within 10 miles would be good
)
Is anyone else going and wouldn't mind us tagging along?
I'm tired - i'm sure that made no sense.
