Autosport have an item quoting Mr Redbull owner, saying no place for Alonso. so if Rosberg stays at Williams, Toyota are saying they're not interested, that really only leaves Renault. If they get what is now known as a good Ronning from the FIA, does that leave our favourite spanish driver without a drive?

Quite possibly!

I had hoped that Ron would keep Alonso on at McLaren ... as the test driver.

Alonso will take next year off. I mean, I'm sure he can afford it......

Come back the lean, mean fighting machine in 2009.

Like he was ever going to go to Redbull anyway.

This really is the silly season at the moment.

With two Spanish races next year I'm confident Bernie will make sure he finds a seat somewhere.

Silly time to take a year off.
What with TC less cars Alonso will need to brush up on his driving skills pretty sharpish in 2009. Every other 08 driver will have had a season to get used to new cars sans TC.

Put him at Torro Rosso in place of Vettel. But who'd get top billing? - a four time champ, or a two time champ??

I'm sure Ron will let him have an old loo seat from the Macca motorhome as a keepsake if he's that desperate for a seat.......laugh

Mark Hughes has a good article on ITV-F1 about Alonso's choices for next year and the relative merits and pitfalls of each one:

That's a good read. Nothing new that hasn't already been said, but put in a good way.
Cheers for the link.
