I am about to do quite a big upgrade to one of our products. Part of this upgrade will be to integrate it in to a content management system allowing users to add and remove content as they please.

Some Self Imposed Constraints
We will be deploying over 30+ sites so there has to be no royalty fee and no large one off fees given we have little cash.

I am not interested in a linux/php/mysql solution, we are married to Bill Gates, his family and his children and have no desire to ware sandles and grow a beard wink.

I want to add modules to the framework that includes our products and information sources. Preferably in ASP.NET.

Prefer an open source solution so if we need to we can fix bugs / add / change / remove bits.

The Candidates
UMBICO - I set up a demo site and found it completely unfathomable. I couldn't even add a default page. For that reason it is a no.

Kentico - Too much money.

AxCMS is a strong candidate. Seems to tick all the boxes.

ASP.NET-CMS - Looks under developed and a bit mickey mouse.

...and finally...

DotNetNuke - Putting aside it is in vb, it has all of the modules I want, a large user base, large support network and all of the standard extensions I need.

Thoughts, experiences and suggestions welcome. Richard.

I've used Joomla before and found it OK.

Joomla uses php & mysql, so apparently it's not a candidate according to the OP's requirements.

Before you discount Umbraco completely, take a look at the demo videos. I like what I've managed to do with it so far.

I take it all back. Using those vids & the sample site I am up and running in only a matter of hours.

Brilliant & decision made!
